Akintayo Emmanuel Highlights 3 Divine Keys to Unlock Our Ability to Help Others Right Now
--
Many people around the world aspire to help others. However, their enthusiasm for making a difference is blocked and thwarted by present circumstances. For example, they may be stuck in unfulfilling job, facing financial pressures, dealing with health issues, struggling with family members, and the list of stressors goes on.
Granted, these people have noble intentions, and truly want to help others. However, according to the Overseer of God’s Remnant Assembly Akintayo Emmanuel, they are making a common — and when it comes to fulfilling their pledge, ultimately fatal — error: they are kicking the can down a road that, for some, has no end.
“When we feel the urge to help others, we are feeling the energy of God flow us and seek expression in the world,” commented Akintayo Emmanuel, who in addition to his work with God’s Remnant Assembly also serves as President of G42-Global Reformers, The Bridge, and GRA Mission Squad. “But when we delay our intentions because we are too stressed out or too busy, we sever this connection. It’s as if we have received a precious, invaluable gift and instead of opening it with joy, we mark the package `return to sender’. Once we start doing this, it becomes a habit. There are some people who have been wishing to help others for decades, but never truly follow-through on this.”
As for those searching for inspiration and direction on how they can help others, God’s Remnant Assembly’s Akintayo Emmanuel suggests meditating upon these Bible passages in particular: 1 Peter 4:10, Luke 6:38, and Romans 15:1.
1 Peter 4:10: “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.”
“Many of us feel that we don’t have the tools or talents to help others. However, the Lord has placed within each of us many gifts that are not solely intended for our use. They are meant to serve and support others. For example, if we have some financial administration ability or knowledge, we can volunteer at a local church or community center to help low-income individuals prepare their taxes. Or if we are fond of landscaping, we can offer to cut the grass and tend the garden of our elderly or infirmed neighbors. There is so much that we can and should do right now; not next year, next month or next week, but today. We need to light the spark. God will take care of the rest.”
Luke 6:38: “Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”
According to Akintayo Emmanuel: “When we help others, our efforts should be sincere and altruistic. In fact, we should be grateful that others have given us the opportunity to help. As long as we serve in this way — with humility and selflessness instead of vanity and pride — then God will fulfill our needs in ways that we cannot imagine or comprehend. We help ourselves by and through helping others.”
Proverbs 3:27: “Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to act.”
“When it is in our capacity to do so, we should always be willing to help others — including strangers. Even smiling and saying ‘thank you’ to a bus driver, cashier at the grocery store, server in a restaurant, or someone else we encounter in our daily lives can be extremely helpful. That smile and gesture of gratitude could be exactly what that other person needs at that moment. It could change their day. And who knows? It may even change their life!”
