Overseer of God’s Remnant Assembly Akintayo Emmanuel Explains How to Achieve Stability Amidst Uncertainty
It has been said that “the only constant in life is change.” However, what billions of people around the world have experienced over the past several months due to the COVID-19 pandemic is not mere change: it is dramatic and rapid upheaval that has forced them to make major shifts to multiple aspects of their life: from how they earn their living, to how they connect with family members, friends, caregivers, and members of their community.
In light of this enormous change, many people are searching for ways and wisdom to achieve stability and remain focused on what truly matters despite ongoing distractions, anxieties and upheavals. According to Dr. Akintayo Emmanuel, the Overseer of God’s Remnant Assembly, the beginning and the end of this search is the same source: The Bible.

Dr. Akintayo Emmanuel further highlighted three Biblical passages in particular that will help anyone — regardless of their unique situation or circumstances — achieve stability amidst uncertainty: Philippians 1:27, James 5:8–9, and Psalm 112:7.
Philippians 1:27: “Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or only hear about you in my absence, I will know that you stand firm in the one Spirit, striving together as one for the faith of the gospel.”
Dr. Akintayo Emmanuel states “When everything is going smooth and we feel strong and successful, it is relatively easy to conduct oneself in a manner worthy of Christ. For example, we are cheerful, generous, compassionate, forgiving, and loving. But when uncertainty, confusion and chaos occur in our lives, we easily lose our bearings and start to demonstrate qualities and characteristics that are decidedly unspiritual. What Jesus commands is that we always act in accordance with God’s love, law and light — regardless of outer circumstances. That is how we demonstrate that we stand firm in the one Spirit.”
James 5:8–9: “You too, be patient and stand firm, because the Lord’s coming is near. Don’t grumble against one another, brothers and sisters, or you will be judged. The Judged is standing at the door!”
“When faced with uncertainty in any aspect of our lives, we should not start criticizing and complaining, and finding ways to elevate ourselves by diminishing others in our words, actions or feelings. We should be patient, and continue on the path that God has chosen for us. If we start judging others, then we also will be judged.”
Psalm 112:7: “They will have no fear of bad news; their hearts are steadfast, trusting in the Lord.”
According to Dr. Akintayo Emmanuel, “We are often the architects of our own misfortune, because we obsess about the negative and in the process lose sight of the positive. Those who triumph amidst uncertainty do not spend their days and night bracing for the next wave of bad news. Instead, they put their trust in God, and know that He will turn the darkness into light in ways that we cannot comprehend.”
